How we buy services

How we buy services

The budgets of Bolton Council and Bolton CCG, which are used to buy health and care services for adults and older people, have been brought together to create a total fund of around £160 million.

How we buy services

From April 2019, the budgets of Bolton Council and Bolton CCG which are used to buy health and care services for adults and older people were pooled to create a total fund of around £160 million.

As a result they formed a Strategic Commissioning Function.

This will enable the commissioning teams from both organisations to work together and make joint decisions on how best to spend the new combined budget for adults in Bolton. To make it even easier, they now also share an office at Bolton Town Hall.

To make sure we are making the right decisions, a Joint Commissioning Committee (JCC) has been formed and this will report to the Bolton Partnership Board, which is made up of senior officers from both organisations, councillors, GPs, and representatives from Bolton FT, GMMH and the voluntary and community sector.

Su Long, Chief Officer of NHS Bolton CCG, has been appointed Accountable Officer for health and care in Bolton and will oversee the work of the SCF.

Why do we want to do this?
